I was deeply interested in the idea of being able to hold intangible feelings. I wanted to be able to hold someone’s laughter, or someone’s anger.
While I was looking for ways to describe feelings, I had acquired an attachment to my typeface, Butterfly Sushi, towards the final stage of editing. It seemed like a good opportunity to use something I was very familiar with (after all, words are one way to describe feelings). So, I started experimenting with the letterform in paper cutout and later in food format. I was trying to make type tangible.
The documentation book presents that research process that I went through. It is a book of emotional and edible letters.
Note: only some spreads of the book are shown here.
